Rick's laying acca staking plan

Post  rick on Sun 23 Dec - 13:29

The purpose of this thread will be to use various lay selections as a base for an acca fund
i am looking to start this early in the New Year

here is
THE STAKING PLAN

The staking plan takes on the format of a price banded plan in order to control liabilities on bigger prices.

Follow the staking plan below:-

For all prices of 3.5 to lay, OR LOWER, we lay with a stake which is 1% of our betting bank. With a hypothetical betting bank of £1000, the stake will be £10.

For all prices above 3.5 to a maximum of 7.5, we lay with a stake which is 0.6% of our betting bank. With an hypothetical betting bank of £1000, the stake will be £6.

For all prices above 7.5 to a maximum of 11, we lay with a stake which is 0.4% of our betting bank. With a hypothetical betting bank of £1000, the stake will be £4.

Should the bank rise, the stake will rise accordingly. If our betting bank is now £1500, our stakes will be 1% = £15, 0.6% = £9 and 0.4% = £6.

Should our betting bank fall below the level at which we originally started eg in this example £1000, we still calculate our stakes AS IF the betting bank is £1000.

Please note that the 1%, 0.6% and 0.4% figures are the stakes we place, and NOT liabilities which will be stakes multiplied by (the lay price – 1).

Please try to place all bets at the same time and keep your own records of profits and loss, because they may differ from mine. The prices you get for a horse will vary according to the time at which you place your bet. Should the price change from my guidance price, and move into a different price band, you must use that price band

Eg HORSE A .My guidance price on the post is 5.4. We lay the horse with a stake of what? Yes 0.6% of our betting bank.
BUT, if you place your bet a little later when the horse’s price may have risen to 7.6. So looking at the price bands and note that we must place 0.4% of the betting bank, as the price now falls within the price band 7.5 – 11.

This is why you should keep your own records.
There could be as many as 15 selections on a day and most prices should fall within the parameters, ie up to 11
I hope this is clear.
Please contact me if you need any clarification.
I have a spreadsheet, on which i have part of my testing figures that i could send you if you pm me (don't forget to include your email!)

BE very

affraid
but it could be an interesting journey, and we should have some fun!
cheers
Rick

the power of compounding or the alchemists dream?

Post  rick on Sat 29 Dec - 16:49

Hi guys,
been getting this all sorted and hope to start this soon after the New Year
a little more background and an example of how i will set this out so you can follow
1.
i started doing records of this on 3rd Nov with a bank of £1000. November started badly and i thought i was on a hiding to nothing, but picked up towards the end of the month so the acca total at end of November was a mere £1136.20, a 13.6% gain.
however, by 28 Dec it had reached £1400, a gain of 23% on the previous month, which is what i was looking for ie nearly doubled growth, due in part of course to the power of compounding???
assuming similar growth of 23% per month!!!
at the end of January the bank could be £2044 and so doubled,
Feb £2514
March £3092
April £3803
May £4677
June £5753
July £7076
August £8704
Sept £10706
Oct £13169
not bad return for a year's work?
well, if it works that is!

2.
below is an example of today's picks and the way i will look to set them out, as you can see the majority of lays will be in the 3 to 6 bracket, and i will also state the amount to be laid
eg in this example up to 3.5 is £14. up to 7.5 is £8 and over 7.5 would be £6.

3.
after racing i will show what the bank balance is at the end for tomorrows start calculations.

Thanks Paul, this has been something I've wanted to have a go at ever since reading of Maria's success, which is actually what got me started on looking at laying horses as a serious investment.
Remains to be seen whether it can be successful AND whether i can maintain the commitment!
Any advice / encouragement will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Rick's laying acca staking plan

Post  rick on Mon 31 Dec - 16:40

today's result
shame about the 3rd race, prevented a larger profit, however still a profit today of £6.60, or just 0.45% cumulative gain.
but hey a GAIN is STILL a GAIN! Cool

31-Dec
Wolverhampton 12.50 Hello Roberto UP 5/2 4.4 4 £9.00 £8.55 £1,471.00
Uttoxeter 1.30 Negus de Beaumont 2nd 9/4 2.44 2 £15.00 £14.25 £1,485.25
Warwick 1.40 Overstrand 3rd 5/1 4.6 3 £9.00 £8.55 £1,493.80
Warwick 2.40 Beat the Boys 1st 11/4 4.7 1 £9.00 -£33.30 £1,460.50
Uttoxeter 3.00 Cousin Nicky UP 10/3 6.8 4 £9.00 £8.55 £1,469.05

so that is a 47% increase in 2 months, for approx 10 mins 'work' a day

okay then, you should have the gist of this now
tomorrow we should begin in earnest, but i may leave the start till the 2nd Jan, cos of tonight's drunken celebrations!!

and so the bank will be reset to £1000 and my first lay stakes will be
3.5 and under £10
3.5 to 7.5 £6
over 7.5 £4

I shall now go and get a couple of beers, and wish you all a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
Here's to a great 2008.

lol! drunken
